Dressings
There are several Community Treatment Centres in the area, if you require dressings please ask at reception and you will be directed to one close to where you live.
Getting to Speak to a Nurse
The nurses have a message book, which is checked at the end of each clinic. You can leave a message and your telephone number and a nurse will contact you.
Family Welfare Counselling
Our practice has a counsellor for one half-day session per week. Make an appointment with a doctor to ask about referral to this service.
Community Alcohol Worker Service
This service is available every Monday 2pm to 3.30pm and patients can self refer. (Ask at reception to make an appointment)
Mental Health Social Worker Service
The Mental Health social worker will help and offer advice on any difficulties you may be experiencing i. e. depression, anxiety, problems with personal relationships and other practical matters. This service is available via your GP.
Tetanus
Tetanus is a life threatening disease. It is fortunately rare mainly because of vaccination. Tetanus spores are present in soil and animals and may be introduced into the body during a puncture wound, or trivial unnoticed wounds. It is therefore important to maintain immunity.
Translation/Interpreter Service
The above service is provided by Manchester NHS Interpretation Service. We can book this service for any patient whose first language is not
English, however, they do need 4/5 days notice. This service is free to patients, but costly and chargeable to the NHS. It would be appreciated if patients needing an interpreter would let the reception staff know, if they cannot keep an appointment.
Non NHS Services
Certain services are provided by your Doctor are not covered by the NHS and you may be asked to pay a fee.
These include:

- Private medicals
- Insurance claim forms
- Private certificates
- Fitness to drive medicals
- Travel cancellation forms
- Fitness to travel

Acupuncture
Dr. Cunningham offers treatment by acupuncture to patients for some conditions. Ask any of the doctors for more information.
Family Planning
This is usually available during normal surgery hours. Alternatively you can attend The Hathersage Centre, for opening times the telephone number is 0161 901 1555 or pick up a leaflet from reception.
Maternity
Full ante-natal and post-natal services are offered, either in a specific clinic or in normal surgery time. New Bookings are Tuesday 1.30pm to 3pm. Follow up appointments are Wednesday 1.30pm to 3.30pm with the midwife. Or you can self refer to the Midwifery Service by telephoning 0800 121 4400.
Minor Surgery
Some of the doctors do minor surgery operations e.g. removal of cysts, warts, treatment of in-growing toenails, injections in areas of rheumatism or arthritis, etc. Make an appointment with the doctor to ask about these.
